Last week Mrs Murray introduced batik as an art form to Mrs Wee's class.

The children learned about traditional and modern methods in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and India. The children looked at photos of birds and made their own batik by applying cold wax and dye to fabric.

So that the dyed colours blended well the children also carefully selected complementary colours from the colour wheel. Mrs Wee's children carefully constructed their own frames for their batik.

Just quietly, there are going to be a few parents who get these as Christmas presents!
